Things To Do Around Town

Hornet Park - 5245 Hornet Avenue, is a 14.492-acre park featuring a picnic area and open lawn. Several
acres of woods are on the site. A walking path and bridge have been constructed through part of the
wooded area which remains mostly undeveloped for recreation. It is adjacent to Beech Grove High
School. Primarily, this park is the site of the Hornet Park Community Center where the Parks Office is
located. The center also houses meeting and banquet rooms and work-out rooms with fitness equipment. The Community Center building connects with Hornet Park Elementary School. 

Garfield Park - 2345 Pagoda Drive, opening in 1873, Garfield Park is the oldest Park in the city.  Garfield
Park consists of 122+ acres and boasts an old-time amphitheater with local talent shows, art facility with
classes available for people of all ages, tennis courts, walking and bike trails. A botanical garden featuring
the works from master gardens, and a public sparkling swimming pool with sun deck. There is also a
library branch located on the park property.

Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Gardens - 2505 Conservatory Drive, is a must-see hidden
treasure in Indianapolis. Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Gardens host many planned activities
for people of all ages.

Irsay YMCA at CityWay - 430 S. Alabama Street, a recent addition to the YMCA opened in 2015. The center is 87,000 square feet and its three levels provide a modern, open and bright space for members to
achieve their wellness goals. In addition, the Irsay Family Y provides a lap pool, a recreational pool, a
sauna and whirlpool, more than 80 group exercise classes each week, an outdoor terrace, and an
instructional teaching kitchen, just to name a few special amenities.
